Long Branch Shelter-Wayah Bald Shelter. 120.5 done/2069.3 to go. March 23, 2017

Another pretty long day. I think I need an easier day tomorrow. My challenge is the spacing of the shelters. There are other places on the trail to camp, but I like that there is a privy and other people at the shelters. Usually the  next shelter is to close, but to go to the next one can be a stretch.

Pretty uneventful day. I hiked for a while with a guy named Weatherman. He broke off after five miles and got a ride to town. There were some beautiful vistas and more forest fire damage.

From this bald you could see 360 degrees.

The top of this lookout tower burned down in the forest fire.

Oatmeal for breakfast today. Trail mix and clif bar for lunch. Dehydrated chicken and noodles for supper.

The campground I’m at tonight is very full. I’m guessing 40 people. I got here about 4:30 and got a less than ideal spot and it really filled up after that.

  1. I thought the south would have a little more green than it does. Also looks like you’ll pass through the NOC tomorrow. That place is a hiker’s dream. Enjoy!
