I didn’t sleep very well last night. First it rained for a while. In addition to that my tent was not on level ground so I kept sliding off my sleeping pad.
I got started about 7:00 this morning. The day was pretty uneventful. The weather in the morning was perfect. It rained off and on all afternoon.
I found a great place on Chestnut Knob to take a break. The sun was shining so I took about 40 minutes and charged my phone for awhile. I called Amy and uploaded pictures and posted my blog. I also had a snack.
I arrived at the shelter about 4:15 and claimed a spot. Engineer and Maple Syrup are here. Also Spidy, Veto and Deer Slayer. The others I don’t know yet.
I used the stream nearby to do bath and clean. I put my clean clothes on and now feel great. My last shower was five days ago. I think I’ll get one this Sunday along with laundering my clothes. They will need it. I also need to resupply on food.
It looks like I’ll be getting to Pearisburg, Virginia around midday Sunday. I’m not going to take a zero. I’ll get up Monday and take off again.
One of my favorite items in my bag is my guide book. I refer to it multiple times a day. It has every bit of information you need on the trail. I think every hiker has one.
It gives you mileage, elevation, things along the trail to watch for. Campgrounds and shelters. Services in town and much more.
Such an amazing landscape of green and blue…

Hi Mike! I haven’t seen Dutchman’s britches (the flowers) since my childhood when out exploring in the timbers of northern Iowa. Hope you have a better “bed” tonight.
