Well, I have to say my bruised butt felt much better today than I thought it would. I did 21.4 miles today. Now, I do need to say the trail in the Shenandoahs is easier than what we have been doing.
It rained again today. It wasn’t raining when I left this morning at 6:30, but it started around 7:30. I had to stop and put my raincover on my pack. I didn’t put my raincoat on. I normally stay warm while hiking so I prefer no raincoat because I sweat so bad in it. This morning was in the low 40’s. I got wet, then cold.
Luckily in Shenandoah National Park the campgrounds have a small store. Like a convenience store. I stopped there for about an hour. I warmed and dried and ate a bunch of unhealthy food and drank coffee.
Now when I left I had my raincoat on. My feet were soaked all day again today. It’s starting to seem like I’ve hiked with wet feet more than I haven’t.
Not many views again today because of the rain. It’s supposed to get into the lower 30’s tonight. I’m glad I haven’t sent my winter clothes home yet.
The shelter is full tonight. I had to take the upper deck because the bottom was already full when I got here. I already fell once trying to get up here. I hope I can get down.
Engineer, Maple Syrup and Timber are here. Also Captain, Billy Goat, Alps, Clothes Line, Pac Man, Husky, and Beetle.
The Shenandoah is so beautiful! Hope you get better weather soon…
