It was a good day that didn’t start so great. I woke up at 5:09am just as it started raining. The radar made it look like it would only be a 30 minute rain. Wrong.

I finally left the shelter at 7:20 in the rain. The temperature dropped to about 50 overnight. I started out with my raincoat on.

At about 9:30 I stopped and ate a Clif bar and took off the raincoat. It was now down to being just drippy.

I kept hiking and expected to eat at around 12:30-1:00. Then I found trail magic. There was a cooler filled with granola bars. I took three and ate while I hiked.

I kept hiking until about 2:45 when I reached Eagles Nest Shelter. I stopped there and ate some peanut butter and honey roll ups and my snickers bar.

As I walked there was a couple admiring this flower. They said it’s a Pink Ladies Slipper. Suposedly rare and endangered

Timber, Engineer and Maple Syrup and I are in the tiny village of Port Clinton Pennsylvania.

They have a pavilion in a city park that they allow hikers to camp in for no charge. That’s where we are.

Maple Syrup and I actually pitched our tents inside the pavilion. Engineer and Timber are “cowboy camping ” in the pavilion.
