Good bye Pennsylvania. Hello New Jersey. Hard to believe another state is done.
We didn’t get on the trail until 9:45 this morning. We did still get 20 miles done.
We had a long gradual climb first to Sunfish Pond. I found the rock cairns especially interesting.
Then on to the summit of Mount Kittatinny. We had close to a 360 degree view.
We stopped at an outdoor outfitters store that was associated with a hostel. Timber needed new tips for his trekking poles. While we were there we had a sandwich. I had a delicious Rueben.
Then we just kept hiking until we felt like stopping. We are not at a shelter or official camp site. It’s called stealth camping. We are actually camped right on a trail. It’s not the AT. It’s a side trail that crosses the AT. It’s a nice wide grass groomed trail. It was starting to get dark when we put our tents up and we will leave first thing in the morning. So even though we are camping where we are not supposed to we aren’t going to be bothering anybody.
Besides getting dark, Maple Syrup’s shin has been nagging at him. We needed to stop. I expect tomorrow we’ll do a bigger day. We will see how it goes.
More awesome pictures.
