Low mileage day today. My knee is very swollen and sore.

I needed to go easy on it today. It hurts more going down hill than on flat or up. I feel like everyday will get better.

I started today after 10:00. The first thing I did was cross the Hudson River.

Then I hiked to a convenience store on a highway and waited for the other three Caballeros. While I was there I ordered a pizza and charged my phone. They also carried the Clif bars I needed. The other three went into Peekskill to the Walmart to resupply. I don’t really need anything so I hiked on to our campsite.

We are camping tonight at a monastery.

This is the most awesome free place I’ve stayed. We have a pavilion, picnic tables, a shower (cold), running water, electricity and porta potties. This actually a ball field.

I ordered new shoes. I’m picking them up at a deli on Friday. My shoes have almost 700 miles on them and they are shot. The tread and lugs on the bottom are worn almost smooth. The cushion or shock absorption is abliterated. The rock plates are completely broken down. I was trying to wait for another week when I visit my daughter in Albany.

I’m going to eat my three pieces of leftover pizza for supper and go to bed. Fresh New York style pizza, by the way. It’s delicious. The guy making pizza was what I envision a rude New Yorker being like. He wasn’t going to start making my pizza until I brought my receipt back to prove I payed.
