26.7 miles today. I’m at the summit of Mt Greylock, the highest point in Massachusetts. I hiked here with our daughter and son in laws dog Ed this past February. Here’s some pictures from then and now. 
It was a great day of hiking and eating.
I started this morning a little before 6:00. The trail goes right through Dalton Massachusetts. I got there about 9:45am. I got a breakfast sandwich and coffee. Then I went next door to Angelina’s Deli and had the best Steak and Cheese Sandwich I’ve ever had. 
At about 3:00 pm the trail went through Cheshire Massachusetts. An ice cream place right on the trail. Of course I had some.
The trail was not technical today, but there was a lot of climbing. 
The Bascam Lodge where I got a bunk is awesome. It’s a a little pricier than other hostels at $35 but is much nicer and includes breakfast. The only downside is that breakfast is included but doesn’t start until 8:00. A little later than I prefer. 
I gained 5 miles on my friends. I’m now 25 miles behind them instead of 30. I’ll catch them if everything goes right.
