White Mountain Hostel-Carlo Col Shelter and Campsite. 1908.5 done/281.3 to go. 87.15% done. July 6, 2017.

Goodbye New Hampshire. Hello Maine. 17 miles today in perfect weather. It felt good to get some better mileage.

Climbed Mt Hayes first thing this morning. The trail was pretty easy.

Next was Cascade Mountain. The trail was still pretty easy.

Page Pond.

Mt Success.

Finally in Maine. The final of the 14 states the AT goes through.

I’m glad I got some mileage in today because tomorrow gets hard. I am hoping to get 10 miles. About six miles from my camp is Mahoosuc Notch, the hardest mile on the AT. It’s not just that one mile that’s hard. I’m hearing the first several miles of Maine are hard.

The shelter I’m at has myself and one other northbound hiker and two southbound hikers. Then there are two high school age youth groups tenting here, so it’s a little loud.
