Imp Campsite-US 2 White Mountains Hostel. 1891.5 done/298.3 to go. 86.37% done. July 5, 2017.

8 miles today. Up and over Mt Moriah.

FYI. When I’m naming a mountain the photo is from that mountain not of it.

I didn’t stay up for the fireworks last night. I definitely heard them. I’m not sure if you could see them. I did stay up for the sunset.

The hike definitely got easier today as I went. And I’m hearing there is a mix ahead. I plan to make good time in the easy ones. Actually I’m hoping to do a minimum of fifteen miles tomorrow. If I can go further I’ll be in Maine tomorrow. For sure by the next day. That’ll feel good.

As I hike I’m thankful for everyday there’s no rain and dry rocks. The trail is still hard but wet rocks take it to another level.

I did my resupply today. I got my Amazon order of Mountain House dehydrated meals, Clif Bars and Natures Valley Protein bars. The hostel I’m staying at provides a shuttle to Walmart about five miles away. I bought some tortillas, peanut butter and honey and Snickers for my lunches. I also bought some craft beer,Jarlesburg cheese, Tostitos and salsa for consumption this evening.

This hostel is $35. You get a bunk, laundry, shower, town shuttle and all you can eat breakfast. It’s right on the trail so it’s a good deal. No hitchhiking. I’m sure my kids like hearing that.

I’m excited about getting to Maine. I feel like I got into some challenging times and a bit of a funk in New Hampshire.

  1. It’s so good to hear the enjoyment return to your voice, Mike. Be proud of pushing through some really difficult stuff. And, except for our few words, you were mostly alone. That is a great accomplishment, indeed! Keep on keepin’ on!!

  2. I’ve been in the White Mountains and they were absolutely gorgeous! (Not on the AT of course) 😏 Your pics bring back nice memories. Ditto on hearing the “bright side” return to your posts. Remember Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength”. Continuing my prayers for you, Mike.
