Another 21 mile day. I’m so thankful the rain has held off. There is already so much mud I can’t imagine what it would be like with more rain. Today was difficult. Lots of climbing and rocks and mud. I just wanted to get as many miles as I could while the weather is good. I hiked for thirteen hours again. It’s supposed to rain the next two days.
Tomorrow will be a shorter day. I’ll hike nine miles to the highway and hitch a ride to Rangely Maine. It’s the last chance to resupply for a long time. While I’m not out of food, I need enough to make it 100 miles. Plus with my higher mileage days I’ve been eating more. I’ve just been so hungry.
It’s funny the shelter I’m at I Sabbath Day Pond and today is Sunday. No southbound hikers at this shelter tonight. That’s surprising. Hot Tub, French Dip, and Lobo are here. Also a large group of Boy Scouts are camping here.
Mike, you are very close to where we lived for 4 years. We lived in New Gloucester and I worked in Auburn. You are now in gods country and it does not get better. I hope the rain holds off and you enjoy your last few weeks in Maine. Finish Strong!!
