I haven’t posted since my AT through hike, but now that my son Ryan and I are going hiking and backpacking in Yellowstone and Grand Tetons I thought I would document our trip.
Today, August 28th we left Fremont around 8:30am. We drove highway 275 until we connected to highway 20. After Norfolk we could see the Cowboy Trail most of the way. The longest rails to trails project in the United States. 321 miles from Norfolk to Chadron. I’m now interested in cycling this trail.
This is where the Cowboy Trail crosses the Niobrara River.
We stopped for lunch in Ainsworth at Big John’s Cafe. My hot beef sandwich was great.
We made it to Fort Robinson State Park and are spending the night in the historic barracks.
The park is beautiful. I wish we had more time to explore. We will be spending some time in the area tomorrow.
Yeah! I’ve missed your AT blog!

Watch out for ticks at Fort R. My sisters & I ran into a swarm of them when we were hiking there. Will enjoy following you on another adventure.
