2017 Appalachian Hike

Very good day today. Overslept a little this morning. I didn’t get on the trail until 6:45 this morning. It started with a great view on Thunder Hill. 

Timber and I hiked together most of the morning. Around lunch time he stayed at a shelter site to eat. I moved ahead to find a sunnier location so I could charge my phone while I ate. I took this photo of the back of Timber while hiking. We did 25 miles today. 

I crossed the James River today. This is the longest footbridge on the AT. The guy in the photo is Jedi.

Engineer and Maple Syrup caught us today. They had to do 30 miles though. We are going to resupply in Waynesboro Virginia on Thursday. Timber and I are sharing a room and Engineer and Maple Syrup are. We’re kind of becoming a group. 

I’m going to be out of food completely when we get to Waynesboro. I didn’t get enough to make it on lunch. I have just the right amount for breakfast and supper. I’ve been eating peanut butter and jelly on tortilla shells for lunch. I’ve been eating two every day instead of the one that I thought.  I do have a few extra Snickers though thanks to Megan. I’ll be stocking my pack more carefully this time. I don’t like being hungry. 

I forgot to take a picture of the shelter. At this site tonight is Outsider, Timber, Maple Syrup, Engineer, Road Runner, Sweet Spot, Lioness, Sitting Bull and Lucky.

Monday I will be hiking in the rain.
