Little Bigelow Lean to-Harrison’s Pierce Pond Camps. 2035.0 miles done/154.8 to go. 92.92% completed. July 14, 2017.

18.1 miles today. It was much harder than I thought it was going to be. Mostly because of the mud. The rocks and roots also made it more challenging. There was really no serious climbing today.

I slept very well last night. In fact I slept in a little compared to normal. I was still on the trail by 7:00.

I got some early morning trail magic. Less than two miles from my camp was a road crossing and there was a guy putting some Pepsi and Little Debbies out. Normally that would not be a breakfast item, but calories are calories. Of course I had some.

Flagstaff Lake was beautiful.

One of the things that I have enjoyed and haven’t written much about is all the history along the trail and the east coast in general.

This is where I am tonight. Pierce Pond. In the Midwest ponds are a small body of water. Not here. Most of the ponds I’ve seen in New Hampshire and Maine I would call lakes.

It just started raining again. I’m glad I got here before it started. I don’t know what the forecast is for tomorrow. I haven’t had any cell service since about 9:00 this morning.

From here it is 3.2 miles to the Kennebec River. I plan to be there waiting on the ferry at 9:00am.

I’m 40 miles from Monson Maine which is where I’ll do my final resupply. That is the beginning of what is called the 100 mile wilderness. There aren’t any reasonable resupply opportunities through that. I’m hoping to get to Monson Sunday night. I’m not sure what the trail will be like especially since it’s raining again so it could be Monday. Also there are two mountains between here and Monson and I’m hearing Moxie Bald Mountain is a tough climb.
